Fencing in Mauchline

Are you considering getting fencing installed in Mauchline? With the Quotatis service you're able to look at up to 4 fence installers to get the best deal available for the job you want.

Fencing is very important for all properties whether it be the front or back garden. From maintenance work to a complete installation of new fencing, employing a respected company is highly advised to get the very best price available.

Fences act as a perimeter to our homes and with an installation you'll add security to your house and prevent easy access to your back garden. Back garden fences are usually around six feet high, which right away makes it tougher for intruders to gain entry.

Decorative fences or wooden picket fencing are usually best suited for the front garden, where security isn't as important. Instead, you're more likely to choose a front garden fence particularly for decoration in order to add something different.

For whatever kind of fencing you're wanting to have installed, be sure to make use of our totally free and no obligation service to get the best deal available in Mauchline.

Mauchline

Mauchline is a town as well as civil parish in East Ayrshire, Scotland. In the 2001 census Mauchline had a recorded population of 4,105. The community lies by the Glasgow as well as South Western Railway line, 8 miles (13 kilometres) east south eastern of Kilmarnock as well as 11 miles (18 kilometres) north east of Ayr. It is located on a mild slope regarding 1 mile (1.6 kilometres)) from the River Ayr, which moves via the south of the parish of Mauchline. In previous days Loch Brown was about 1 mile west of the community, but was drained when the railway line from Kilmarnock was constructed. Bruntwood Loch, near the old laird's house of that name, was as soon as a crucial site for waterfowl, yet drained for agriculture in the 18th century.

    FAQs

How do I find out who owns a fence?

Speaking to the owners of the neighbouring properties is recommended. If you are still unsure, you may need to check the original deeds to the property. Generally the rule is that you are responsible for the fence at the right hand side of your property.

How close can I build to my neighbour’s fence?

As a home or property owner, you’re generally allowed to build next to your neighbour’s fence as long as it’s on your own side of the property. With that in mind, there are certain laws that regulate how close a fence can be built to buildings on the same lot or neighbouring lots. In addition, there are also local bylaws that provide limitations on the placements as well as height of fences so as to address safety hazards. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into how close you can build to your neighbour. Let’s take a look!

In general, if the fence is in your boundary then you’re allowed to build a 2-metre high brick or wooden fence or wall. However, this may differ depending on your location in the UK. As a result, you may want to reach out to your municipality’s building department in order to determine what these rules and limitations are in your area. In the events whereby there are no such restrictions but you’re still concerned, you can try informing your neighbour what your concerns are. However, if they’re not receptive there are some steps you can take to ensure your plans go as smoothly as possible. These steps include the following:

    • Ensure to leave sufficient space for both the posts and footings
    • Stagger your fence posts in order to make sure you’re not digging your neighbour’s
    • Consider using concrete posts as they’re much stronger and will last a lot longer
    • Use kickers or plinths for raised gardens and flower beds
    • Make use of concrete plinths as they won’t rot over time like a wooden fence.
What types of garden fencing are available?

There are quite a few different types of garden fencing that are readily available, so you’ll have plenty to choose from. If you’ve got a strict budget, waney edge panel fencing is a good option. It’s made up of horizontal wood strips and is generally the cheapest type of fencing. Another good option is closed feather-edge panels. These are a really strong type of fence, made up of concrete posts and panels of vertical strips of wood. You can also get more decorative types of fencing with combinations of vertical and horizontal wood strips.

Do I need planning permission for fences?

Not if they are under 1 metre high if next to a road or 2 metres high elsewhere. It’s always recommended to check with your neighbours and the local authority if you are unsure. Other restrictions may apply, for example if a fence might impact driver visibility on nearby roads.
