Fencing in Stockbridge

Fencing is extremely important for all homes whether it's the front or back garden. From maintenance work to a complete installation of new fencing, working with a reputable contractor is highly encouraged to get the very best price available.

Fences work as a boundary to our properties and with an installation you'll increase security to your home preventing easy access to the back garden. Back garden fences are typically around six feet high, which right away will make it tougher for intruders to gain entry.

Decorative fences or wooden picket fencing will often be most suited for the front garden, where security isn't as paramount. Instead, you're more likely to select a front garden fence specifically for decoration and also to add something different.

For whatever type of fencing you're wanting to have installed, make certain to use our totally free and no obligation service to get the best deal available in Stockbridge.

Stockbridge

Stockbridge is a town as well as civil parish in the Test Valley area of Hampshire, England. It is among the smallest towns in the UK with a population of 592 as of the 2011 census. It rests astride the River Test and at the foot of Stockbridge Down. The community is positioned on the A30 road, which once carried most of the traffic from London to Dorset, southern Somerset, Devon as well as Cornwall in the South West, though today this path is lesser than the A303 twin carriageway to the north. The bridge over the Test resulted in the town's name, a local legend suggested a trainer quit equipped provisions, yet it derives from an earlier bridge that was made from 'supplies' (tree trunks). Salisbury is 15 miles (24 km) by road; Winchester is 8.3 miles (13.4 km) by the B3049 road that signs up with the A30 nearby. The community's long high road was hence on a helpful course between both medieval cathedral cities. The town's civil parish has a location of 1,323 acres (535 ha). The community's street crosses the River Test, marking the border of the parishes of Stockbridge and also Longstock by a reduced bridge of three arches rebuilt and widened in 1799. 5 smaller sized river channels circulation with the town. For a brief time, to offer area for fish, these were split right into 8 synthetic ditches simply above the community. The town gets on a common pedestrian/footpath, the Test Way.

    FAQs

What is the cheapest fence to install?

The cheapest fence to install is, generally, a pressure-treated pine wooden fence at around £20 per linear foot. This includes the materials and labour costs. Wire fencing is technically cheaper at around £5 per foot, but it’s not a great material to use in homes as it looks unsightly and doesn’t provide any privacy.

How do I find out who owns a fence?

Speaking to the owners of the neighbouring properties is recommended. If you are still unsure, you may need to check the original deeds to the property. Generally the rule is that you are responsible for the fence at the right hand side of your property.

What do I need to do to maintain my fence?

Properly erected fences shouldn’t require a great deal of maintenance. Any rotting boards can usually be replaced without replacing the whole panel. Timber fencing should be stained every 2-3 years. General maintenance is something you can carry out yourself, however, larger works may need a qualified professional to come in.

What types of garden fencing are available?

There are quite a few different types of garden fencing that are readily available, so you’ll have plenty to choose from. If you’ve got a strict budget, waney edge panel fencing is a good option. It’s made up of horizontal wood strips and is generally the cheapest type of fencing. Another good option is closed feather-edge panels. These are a really strong type of fence, made up of concrete posts and panels of vertical strips of wood. You can also get more decorative types of fencing with combinations of vertical and horizontal wood strips.
