Barnehurst

Barnehurst is a town and district in South East London in the London Borough of Bexley. It's north east of Bexleyheath, and is 13 miles east south-east of Charing Cross. It is separated from North Bexleyheath by the A220 Erith Road.

The town was established just after the sale of land in 1881 to create the Bexleyheath loop line between Lewisham and Dartford. Its name derives from the name of the railway station, which was named after Colonel Barne, who owned a nearby property and was vice-chairman of the railway company. These days, the railway station runs trains in between London Charing Cross, London Victoria or London Cannon Street, by means of Lewisham and Eltham to the west and Dartford railway station to the east. There are 12 trains each hour during the week; on Sundays, there are 4 trains an hour. The railway station was openedto stimulate the construction of homes. The Barnehurst Estate was built in 1926 which housed many individuals.

In addition to the railway station, Barnehurst is served by five buses, 1 of which goes to the well-liked Bluewater Shopping Centre. There are few buying or leisure opportunities within the town, so people frequently go to surrounding areas employing public transport links or the primary roads.

Barnehurst is dwelling for the non-league football club Phoenix Sports FC, which plays at Phoenimx Sports Ground.
