Composite Doors in Bo'ness

Do you want to upgrade your front door? There are many options available to you but none quite as well-liked as composite doors. But why is this type of doorway the nation’s preferred and why should you think about it for your own house?

There are lots of reasons to choose a composite door. First of all they look amazing and there's a wide variety of choice in the style and design to pick from. If you desire a modern appeal then you can certainly get exactly that, with contemporary designs to go hand in hand with the times. But if you want the appeal of standard front doors, you can also find Victorian, Georgian and Edwardian designs to select from.

Moreover you can pick a colour that properly suits your home. Whether you select a classic white or black front door, or might have a preference for the bold red, blue or green, the final decision is yours.

But why not consider the composite door’s other features? As well as a strong visual appearance, you take advantage of exceptional insulation and a hardwearing, resistant installation. The construction of the door helps ensure heat is unable to pass thorough and leave your home, decreasing your expensive energy expenses.

Composite doors are constructed to withstand impacts and the weather too, lasting for decades with practically no maintenance. A GRP (Glass reinforced plastic) skin helps you to protect the front door ensuring it continues to look great for quite some time to come.

Bo'ness

Bo'ness, officially called Borrowstounness, is a coastal parish inside the Central Lowlands of Scotland. Prior to the local government reforms towards the end of the 20th century, it was a part of the county of West Lothian. Lying on a hillside around the south bank of the Firth of Forth inside the Falkirk council area, it's 17 miles northwest of Edinburgh and 7 miles east of Falkirk. In accordance with the 2001 Census, Bo'ness has a resident population of approximately 14,000, and estimates in 2008 have indicated that it has developed to roughly 14,500 residents. Many of the inhabitants commute to work, primarily to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Flakirk, meaning that the town is largely a commuter town. Among the list of important employers is the Ineos petrochemical facility, which is situated by Grangemouth, which is close to the town. Bo'ness has quite a few attractions that are well-liked with close by residents and tourists. Some examples include the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway, the Birkhill Fireclay Mine along with the remains of an engine house. Kinneil House, a traditional home maintained by Historic Scotland, is located within a public park and the grounds in which James Watt created the steam engine. His workshop remains in ruins. The town also has a recently redeveloped Hippodrome Cinema, the oldest picture house in Scotland, built in 1912 and created by a local architect and resident, Matthew Steele. FAQs

what are composite doors made of?

As the name suggests, composite doors are made up of multiple components or materials which includes uPVC and foam or solid timber core, just to mention a few. Individual materials incorporated manufacturing a composite door plays their own important role with unique properties which are perfectly blended to give the strongest and most durable door materials currently available in the market. These materials are pressed and glued together as they’re subjected to high pressure conditions.

The need to counteract the weaknesses found in most single material doors, ultimately gave birth to the development of composite doors - which puts together several materials with specific properties to cancel out each others’ excesses or weaknesses. Purchasing a composite door means a valuable investment in a sturdy door frame manufactured using the toughest and most robust materials. In other words, you’re increasing the security of your home, enjoying the weatherproofing qualities of the door and also giving you a peace of mind knowing both your loved ones and properties are safe, well protected and secured. Apart from the materials used in making the door, you’re also provided with an array of choices when it comes to the personalization of the door to your needs and taste. You can choose from a variety of colours, woodgrain effects, textures as well as finishes.

Overall, composite doors also requires little maintenance and are very durable. Due to the modern techniques used in manufacturing a composite door, the colour as well as beauty is guaranteed to last a very long time. What’s more? Generally, the composite is weather and fade resistant so you won’t have to worry about spending either time or money for the care or maintenance of your door even after frequent or heavy usage.

are upvc or composite doors better?

We’ve all heard the common phrase that first impressions matter most. Well, this expression also applies to your home. When people arrive at your home, the door is the first thing they come in contact with and that speak volumes about the impression they’ll have about you. In modern times, there’s a large variety of choices when it comes to choosing a front door for your home in terms of style and design - from distinctive and alluring wood finish effect to elegant stained glass patterns. These are all important when it comes to choosing a front door, but one of the most significant factors is the material.

Both uPVC and composite doors have their advantages and disadvantages, so choosing one may rest on the purpose of installing the door.

UPVC Doors:

Pros

• Cost - Although composite doors are certain to deliver a great value for money, the initial spending on uPVC is lower and doesn’t put much strain on your budget

• Little Maintenance - The maintenance of a uPVC door does not go beyond wiping any stains with a damp cloth. However, this should be done carefully and regularly as extended neglect can lead to discolouration over time

Cons

• Styles - When it comes to styles, uPVC doors has a considerable lower style options compared to composite doors.

Composite Doors:

Pros

• Finishes - Composite doors offer a wider range of finishes than uPVC doors and as such, deliver greater versatility in showcasing your home’s character.

• Energy Efficient - Made from various materials glued together under intense pressure, composite doors happen to be thicker than uPVC doors and hence, a bit more energy efficient.

• Improved Security - Although both doors offer a great level of security, composite doors (due to its robust construction) are a bit more superior in this area.

Cons

• Cost - Although composite doors offer an immense value for money, the fact still remains that they’ll also stretch your budget more than uPVC doors.

Can you paint composite doors?

Composite doors have coloured skins rather than a coloured coating on their surface. This means that their colour is long-lasting and they don’t need repainting. If you want to change the colour of your composite door it’s best to ask the manufacturer about the best way to do this. This is because different composite doors are finished in different ways.

do composite doors fade in the sun?

A composite door is a valuable investment any homeowner would be glad to make due to its numerous benefits. Not only are they super energy efficient and good looking, but also exceptional when it comes to keeping your house warm and guaranteeing your safety and maximum security. They come in wide range of styles, colours as well as personalization options, which makes them one of the most popular and strongest door you can find in the market today. However, the question that hangs over the mind of many potential investors is how fade resistant are composite doors? Would the visual appeal remain intact for a long period of time or fade away after a few years of exposure to intense sun?

The last thing any homeower would want to see is a priced asset looking dull and tired only after a couple of years after installation. Owners of timber doors worry about having to re paint every couple of years. UPVC door owners worry that their doors can, at times, start to fade when exposed to a strong and intense sunlight. So what exactly do composite door owners worry about? The simple answer is absolutely nothing! Proud composite door owners only have to do a quick wash with a warm soapy water as upkeep for their long lasting and durable asset. This is because composite doors are typically made from Glass Reinforced Plastic outer skin which makes them highly resistant to the element. So whether it’s raining heavily or the sun is shining intensely, the colours of your beloved composite door will not fade and will remain exactly the same way it was when purchased. No matter what the UK weather throws at them, the reinforced plastic skin and robust core ensures the door remains water tight and in top condition always.
