Concrete Driveway in Brackley

Concrete is a favorite driveway surfacing material. It’s ideal for any size or form of driveway. Many people install concrete driveways because they’re durable. In case a concrete driveway is laid and maintained effectively, it can last for at least 30 years. Cement driveways are also relatively zero-maintenance. Many professionals recommend that you coat your concrete in a sealer. This isn’t essential, but it'll keep carefully the driveway in good condition and prolong its life. This sealer is not hard to apply and needs reapplying about once every two years, or whenever the driveway begins showing symptoms of deterioration. Cement driveways also need periodic cleansing and sweeping. Cement driveways are also popular because they can be customised. Different dyes can be found to change the colour of concrete to match its surroundings. Concrete can also be used to create style imprinted driveways, which are generally unique and attractive. Concrete driveways do have downsides. They are inclined to cracking, specially when it’s very hot or cold or they’re under extreme pressure. Cracks in concrete are difficult to correct. Although they could be loaded in, this often leaves a driveway looking patchy and mismatched. The best way to repair a concrete driveway is to displace it, which can be expensive.

Brackley

Brackley is a town in south Northamptonshire. It's approximately 19 miles (31 km) from Oxford and 22 miles (35 kilometres) from Northampton. Inititally a market town primarily based on the wool and lace trade, it was established on the intersecting trade routes in between London, Birmingham and the English Midlands and between Cambridge and Oxford. Brackley has a resident population of around 13,018 (2011 Census) which has increased considerably from 2,467 in 1901. The town was the location of an important meeting amongst the barons and representatives of the King in 1215, the year of the Magna Carta. In 1602, the metaphysical poet John Donne was elected as MP for the Brackley constituency. Brackley is close to the Silverstone motor circuit, and features some industry associated with Formula One racing, notably the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team which is based in the town, plus the Force India F1 team which works in a wind tunnel on the old site of the north railway station. On the east outskirts of the town is H. Bronnley & Co., manufacturers of hand-made soaps who hold Royal Warrants of Appointment for supplying Queen Elizabeth II and the Prince of Wales. The Brackley Morris Men are 1 of only 7 'traditional Cotswold' Morris dancing sides remaining in England and the only 1 to survive in Northamptonshire. Their history goes back to the 1600s when a solid silver communion plate was given to the parish. The plate which remains in the possession of St Peters Church is dated 1623, and is inscribed with the names of seven men, whom local folklore believes to have been the morris dancers. Brackley provides football, rugby and tennis clubs. For all of your house improvement jobs, make sure that you use trusted pros in Brackley to make sure you get a good quality service.

    FAQs

Do I need to seal my concrete driveway?

Sealing your driveway isn’t 100% necessary, but it is recommended. It will help keep your driveway in good condition and increase how long it lasts. Sealer should be applied approximately once every 2 years, or when your driveway begins to show signs of deterioration.

My garden is sloped, can I install a patio?

Patios are suitable for many gardens. If you do not have a flat area already, consider having some landscaping work done to create one. If your garden is on a very extreme slope, you could have a multi-layered (terraced) patio with steps between each layer. Ask for advice and get quotes if you're not sure.

How to resurface a painted concrete patio?

A big benefit to concrete is that you can paint it, making it easy to customise and coordinate with your outside area. However, it’s easy to resurface it too, so if you change your mind or inherit a patio that’s the wrong colour, you don’t need to worry.

Start by cleaning the surface with water and a brush. If you come up against any tough stains, you might need to use a detergent and water mix to remove them. Then you can prepare your resurfacer.

Generally, it’s best to apply resurfacer to a moist surface, although make sure you follow the instructions on the specific product you buy. You’ll need to mix the resurfacer with water, then pour and spread it on with a trowel or brush. You might need to apply multiple coats, and can add texture if you want to make the surface more grippy.

Ensure you protect any expansion joints in your patio with duct tape or weather stripping to stop the resurfacer from filling them in. You can also add a colour agent to your resurfacer before you apply it if you’d like to customise the colour.

How to seal cracks in a concrete driveway?

Cracks on your concrete driveway can look scruffy and unsightly. They can also lead to further damage, as moisture can get into the cracks and make them worse. So, it’s important to seal the cracks as soon as you can.

Start by cleaning the area and removing any loose materials. This will help any new materials you introduce to bond with your existing driveway. Then use concrete caulking or sealer to fill in the cracks. You’ll need to use a trowel to push the filler firmly into the crack.

Once you’ve filled in the crack, make sure you consult the product instructions and leave it for the amount of time specified before using your concrete driveway again.
