Havering

The London Borough of Havering is a London borough in East London, England and forms a part of Outer London. The London Borough of Havering was created in 1965 by the combined former area of the Municipal Borough of Romford and Hornchurch Urban District which had been moved to Greater London from Essex by the London Government Act 1963. The name Havering is a reference to the Royal Liberty of Havering which occupied the location for a number of centuries. The local authority is Havering London Borough Council.

The main town in Havering is Romford and the other primary communities are Hornchurch, Upminster and Rainham. Havering is bordered to the south by the London Borough of Bexley by the River Thames, to the west by the London Borough of Redbridge and the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and towards the north and east by Essex. The borough is primarily characterised by suburban improvement with large locations of protected open space. Havering covers a total area of 43.35 square miles. There is a high ratio of area per capita as substantial areas of Havering are parkland and 23 square miles (60 km2), which is over 50% of the borough, is Metropolitan Green Belt protected land. Those locations of development are in depth but hardly ever intensive.

In line with population estimates from 2014, it has a permanent population of around 245974 people. Havering is served by the London Underground and there is an extensive network of London Bus routes.

FAQs

How to maintain your aluminium conservatory?

Aluminium conservatories are really easy to maintain, making them a top choice for many homeowners. Unlike wooden conservatories, they don’t need regular treatment to ensure they don’t deteriorate.

The most you’ll need to do to keep your aluminium conservatory looking great is give the frames and glass an odd wipe with water and a mild detergent to get rid of any occasional dirt.

Why have an aluminium conservatory?

There are several reasons why an aluminium conservatory installation is a great way to expand your home.

Firstly, it’s strong and durable. This means that as well as providing you with a conservatory that’s more secure, this frame material will also last longer and cope with harsher weathering that wooden or uPVC conservatories.

Aluminium also offers more design possibilities. It can be bent into custom shapes, making it ideal if you want to create a unique, stylish home extension. It comes in a wide range of colours, so you can coordinate it with your existing property.

An aluminium conservatory installation can also help you maximise light in your home. They have very thin frames compared to wood and uPVC, so they’re a great choice if you want to let in as much daylight as possible.

How to clean a conservatory roof?

The roof is the place that your conservatory is most likely to get grubby, but cleaning it is easy. You shouldn’t need to use any powerful cleaners – just warm water and a mild detergent.

The best tool to use to access your conservatory roof is a telescopic brush. This will help you get into corners and high areas without needing to work from height. You can use a ladder to help you clean your conservatory roof, but you should be very careful to avoid leaning it against any glazing

.

Consider investing in a telescopic cleaner with squeegee, brush and mop attachments to help you achieve a great finish on your aluminium conservatory.

What is the difference between a conservatory and an orangery?

Conservatories and orangeries look very similar, so it can be hard to tell what their differences are. The main thing that distinguishes the two is the amount of glazing they have.

Conservatories usually have a roof that is made up of at least 75% glass. Orangeries, on the other hand, have roofs that are generally less than 75% glass.

Conservatories also tend to have walls that are made up of at least 50% glass. However, orangeries have glass on less than 50% of the wall area.

Orangeries were originally developed to grow oranges in large stately homes. Their mixture of brick and glazing gave the oranges a combination of plenty of sunlight and shelter.
