Ashington
Ashington is a town as well as civil parish inside Northumberland, England with a population of around 27,000; it once was a centre of the coal mining business. The town is positioned some 15 miles (24 km) north of Newcastle upon Tyne west of the A189. The south of the town is bordered by the River Wansbeck. The North Sea shoreline at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea is around 3 miles (5 km) from the town centre.
