With the increase in gas and electricity prices, increasing home energy efficiency is becoming more and more important. And were you aware your boiler accounts for around 60% of your yearly energy expenses?

This means that if it's inefficient, as a huge number of central heating boilers are in the UK, you'll be throwing away hundreds of pounds annually. Inefficient boilers could work at just 70%, whilst a replacement ECO boiler would most likely run at about 95%.

And with the ECO boiler scheme you'll benefit from a no cost replacement combi boiler. The scheme is aimed at the country's most insecure homes, and that means you must meet certain requirements.

Are you looking for an ECO central heating boiler in Alfreton? With a brand new central heating boiler you'll immediately reduce your energy bills and be able to be sure your home's warmer throughout the year.

If you'd like an ECO boiler, complete our quick form to determine if you're qualified for a free of charge replacement in Alfreton. Even if you don't meet the criteria it's still advised to switch your outdated central heating boiler system.

Alfreton

Alfreton is a town and civil parish in Amber Valley within the county of Derbyshire, connecting the Bolsover and North East Derbyshire districts. It was a Norman Manor before becoming an Urban District, and has a tiny population of roughly 7971, as reported by the 2011 census. Traditionally, the villages of Ironville, Riddings, Somercotes and Swanwick together form a portion of the Manor along with the Urban District, having a population of 24476 in the 2001 census. The existence of simply accessible and rich seams of coal and ironstone inside the region led to the growth in significance of mining and iron-working at the finish from the medieval period, radically transforming the traditional agricultural economy. Massive numbers of small workings and pits were constructed, and Alfreton became the chief coal-mining centre in Derbyshire by the 18th century. The improvement of these industries contributed drastically to the town's prosperity and attracted considerable numbers of workers, creating Alfreton the third largest town within the country by the end of the 18th century. Population development led to the improvement of brick-making and tile-making industries in the town, and boot-making, repairing and leather because of the need for industrial footwear. Due to the decline of the industry in the middle of the 20th century, the pits shut in the 1960s and their sites are now utilised for other development. Alfreton is a vibrant urban centre with a mix of chain shops in addition to a number of independent enterprises, such as pubs, food outlets in addition to a leisure centre. For all of your residence upgrades, make certain to select trusted professionals in Alfreton to make certain of quality.

    FAQs

how much is a new gas boiler?

If you’re thinking about getting a new gas boiler for your home or property, then you might also be wondering how much it’ll cost you so you can set a budget and start planning. As simple as this question sounds, it’s actually very tricky to provide a simple and short answer as the costs of installing a new gas boiler alone varies greatly based on the parts needed, the amount of work required, your location, their availability as well as the company you hire for the project.

When it comes to purchasing a new gas boiler the price you’re expected to pay also depends on multiple influencing factors such as the type, brand as well as your most preferred gas boiler model. However, one thing you should have in mind is the fact that your gas boiler is right at the heart of your home or property and can be a complicated piece of machinery. As a result, you wouldn’t expect gas boilers to come cheap. Generally, it’s going to cost within the range of £500 to about £2,500 to get a new gas boiler. Therefore, it’s always advisable to obtain all necessary details and facts before you decide to purchase a replacement gas boiler.

This price range may seem too high as it’s usually a turn off for most homeowners. However, it’s worth noting that gas boiler replacement costs and gas boiler installation costs are, more often than not, compensated by the saving you’ll make off your utility bills - all thanks to the new and more energy efficient boiler you just installed in your home. And even more importantly, when it has been estimated that roughly half of the amount spent on energy on an annual basis depends on your boiler.

    How do I re-pressurise a boiler?

Re-pressurising your boiler means that you allow more water to enter system via the filling loop. It can be easy to re-pressurise your boiler yourself. Always check your manual, but there are some simple steps you can take to restore pressure to your boiler:

    • Switch off your boiler and let it cool completely

    • Make sure both ends of your filling loop are attached

    • Open both valves to allow cold water into the system – you’ll hear it start to move

    • Look out for your pressure gauge to show 1.5 bar

    • Close both valves

    • Switch your boiler back on

    • Undo both ends of your filling loop and remove it. Remember some water might come out, so be ready to catch some spillage!

how long does a gas boiler last?

When it comes to gas boilers, this is one of the most frequent questions that always pops up and for a good reason. When you invest a considerable amount of money to acquire and install a gas boiler in your home or property, it’s only reasonable not only to expect the boiler to warm up your home efficiently, but also to do so for a long period of time. If you’ve just bought or about to get a new gas boiler, it’s likely you won’t have to worry about getting a replacement for a lengthy period of time. Several gas boilers will last for anywhere between 10 to 15 years on the average. However in the event whereby you have an existing one that’s fast approaching the end of it’s useful life, then you should know the time go get a new gas boiler is just around the corner, and the earlier you make the purchase, the better (to avoid any surprise breakdowns that’ll leave your home super uncomfortable).

Just like any other home appliance, it’s a fact that an older gas boiler ( especially those that have been installed over a decade ago) are significantly less efficient that the new modern ones. When the older versions were manufactured is a completely different time to now as both technology and climate concerns are wide apart. So when your existing boiler is approaching the end of it’s useful life, it’ll be wise to start saving up to cover the cost of getting a new one. However, if it’s only about 5 years ago your boiler was installed, it’s highly likely to still be very efficient.

do i need a new boiler?

Ad hoc visits from your engineer to fix small issues with your heating system may actually seem cheaper and a lot more affordable, however when a boiler is ripe enough for a change these small issues are always never ending. Over some period of time, these small issues will inevitably get worse and the idea of “mend and make do will be an absolutely false economy. The best course of action in this sort of event is to find a replacement boiler to install as soon as possible. In this article, we’re going to give you some hints that’ll show you when your boiler needs to be replaced. Now let’s take a look!

✓ Insufficient hot water. Here, you’ll have to check the size of your hot water cylinder. It’s crucial to make sure that your boiler is rightly sized to power your heating as well as hot water circuit in line with your demands. You should always seek the advice of a heating expert who can recommend whether to fix or replace the boiler.

✓ Strange noises. It’s normal for components of the boiler to become worn or damaged over time. Replacing the particular component that’s causing the knocking or rattling may seem cost effective at first but more often than not, the noises usually signal a bigger issue which is likely to build up over time. Hence, it’ll be a lot more logical to replace the boiler itself.

✓ Regular repair of your boiler. It’s essential to have your heating system serviced by a Gas Safe engineer on an annual basis. However, when you have to call them more often than once a year for your yearly maintenance, it may be a wise decision to consider getting a replacement.

✓ Other events whereby you may need a new boiler includes when you can’t get the right temperature in your room, when the radiators don’t heat up as they should, when your boiler leaks and if your boiler still has a pilot light.
