Ground Source Heat Pump in Ashtead

Do you want to spend less on your energy bills? Geothermal heat pumps may be your answer and by using Quotatis you can contrast heat pump quotations within Ashtead to find out if the green technology is good for you.

So what is a geothermal energy heat pump? Also called a ground source heat pump, these green systems take natural energy from the ground and transfer it into heat for the household.

They're installed into a borehole in the garden and connecting pipes link the technology to your home's heating system. This gets rid of the need to purchase National Grid gas and electricity.

This means you'll be ready to decrease energy bills by some £600 a year, ensuring a future without rising energy prices impacting your expenses. Besides this there's also a Government incentive set to come into place whereby you earn for all green heat generated.

If a ground source heat pump sounds like something you could take advantage of, why don't you compare and contrast heat pump costs within Ashtead and discover if the installation would suit your budget. It's free and there's no obligation to the service.

Ashtead

Ashtead is a village within the Metropolitan Green Belt of Surrey. The Ashtead Residents' Association, founded in 1945, aims to represent the opinions of all who reside in Ashtead by way of a network of more than a hundred Road Stewards and regular meetings. Ashtead has a large two-part conservation area including the mansion Ashtead House made use of by City of London Freemen's School, and six other schools. Amenities include parks, outlying woodland trails and a high street with convenience shopping, cafes and restaurants, a football club and a cricket club. There has been settlement in Ashtead since at least the Roman period, with a Roman villa dug up in what is now Ashtead Common. Ashtead appears inside the Domesday Book as Stede. The oldest portion of Ashtead has the principle shopping and social area of the village, with two pubs plus the Ashtead Village Club which is a C&IU affiliate. It features a small southern conservation area, however outside of this has eight listed brick buildings, both over two centuries old, including the Old Rectory which has been broken up into Ashtead Lodge, Forge Cottage and Wisteria Cottage which are dated to roughly the 17th century and are also Grade II listed. The region to the north of the railway line is Ashtead Common, managed by the City of London Corporation because of a long-standing preservation order, and is a national nature reserve. Lower Ashtead is a relatively flat area leading to Ashtead Common that includes a recreation ground, a youth club and skate park, a pub, along with a range of shops all built near the preserved large square of wood in front of the railway station. Ashtead Park contains three significant listed buildings and four lakes/ponds. For all of your residence upgrades, ensure that that you employ trustworthy specialists in Ashtead to ensure that you get the top quality service.

FAQs

can a ground source heat pump heat a swimming pool?

When people think about heat pumps, they’ll automatically have the believe that a swimming pool will require a big heat pump. Since the swimming pool has a large volume of water, then warming such a volume will require a large ground source heat pump because that volume is much larger than the normal domestic hot water tank, right? Well, that point of reasoning does seem logical especially with the information almost everywhere that ground source heat pumps are usually less efficient when it comes to heating hot water for home’s use. However, the fact is there are also some things to put into consideration that also works in favour of the ground source heat pump.

First and foremost, you should know your domestic hot water will typically be heated to a much higher temperature when compared to your swimming pool. Since you wouldn’t be using the water to disinfect your bathroom or doing your dishes in your swimming pool, then the temperature can be much lower. In fact, it’s much more comfortable and enjoyable to heat to a typical “swimming pool temperature than having it at a hot bath temperature. If you’ve ever wandered into a really hot swimming pool, you wouldn’t need any introduction to the painful discomfort that comes next.

As a result of this low temperature, your “tiny heat pump can operate a in a more efficient way which makes the use of ground source heat pumps a viable swimming pool heating option. What’s more? The ground source heat pump works for a swimming pool just like any any other application - moving the heat from the region of a warmer temperature to the cooler temperature region.

are ground source heat pumps noisy?

Are you interested in fitting a ground source heat hump in your home? If yes, then one of the thing you’d probably like to know is whether or not the heat pump is noisy. In this article, we seek to provide you with necessary information that’ll solve these mystery.

One thing you should when it comes to heating products is that they all make some noise. However, they’re usually a lot quieter when compared to fossil fuel heating systems. Generally, a ground source heat pump can reach within the range of 40 to 60 decibels depending on the manufacturer of the product as well as it’s installation.

The noise levels of heat pumps are a major concern for several homeowners. However, the fact is when the system becomes a nuisance or becomes noisy, that is always a sign of poor planning as well as poor quality installation. This is because heat pumps, in general, are not usually noisy.

In ground source heat pumps, volume isn’t quite associated due to the lack of a fan unit. However, it remains a very common question for homeowners who intends to install a ground source heat pump to ask whether or not the type of heat pump is noisy. Just like any other heating product, there are components in the ground source heat pump that produces some noise but this is always not as much as that of an air source heat pump. This is due to the fact that the heat coming from the ground is more consistent, hence the compressor’s power capacity wouldn’t be as high. What’s more? This type of heat pump doesn’t also work at full throttle which also plays a key role in its low noise level.

how does a ground source heat pump work in winter?

Are you currently considering installing a ground source heat pump in your home? Well, a heat pump can be a great alternative when compared to gas or oil boiler, however, you may also be worried about the operating efficiency of this heating system if you live in a cold climate or during the winter months. However, in reality, there’s nothing to be worried about!

A ground source heat pump works by incorporating the natural heat that’s typically found in the ground or groundwater. In other words, this type of heat pump doesn’t make use of fossil fuels to heat your home while it can also minimize carbon emissions that may pose a huge risk to the environment. This makes a popular option especially amongst home and property owners who are very environment conscious and prefers to utilize more renewable sources of energy.

However in a place such as the UK where the temperature can drop to around -10℃ during the winter months, it may get you thinking whether there’ll be enough heat in the ground to warm up your home. Let’s have a look.

In the UK, the temperature of the ground doesn’t normally fall less than 10℃. This is still enough heat for the ground source heat pump to warm up your home. In other words, as long as you purchase the right one, your ground source heat pump will continue to work just fine during the cold months. Due to the fact that every heat pump varies, you will need the right equipments so as to ensure the heat pump works well throughout the winter. This is usually not an issue in the UK, but same can not be said of colder places like Canada and North America.

how efficient are ground source heat pumps?

If you’re thinking about the possibility of installing a ground source heat pump in your home, then it’s normal to consider how efficient they’re in heating up a house before going ahead to make a purchase decision. In this article, we are going to address this question to help you make an informed purchase decision.

We know you’d prefer a single, accurate answer to this question, but the fact is, there are several influencing factors that can play a key role in the efficiency of a ground source heat pump installation. These factors include whether or not the property is well insulated, the fitting of a well designed system and the quality of its installation, the heat source that’s being used as well as the heating distribution system and its size ( under floor heating or radiators ).

The Coefficient of Performance ( CoP) measurement is used to imply the efficiency of a heat pump. This is basically the ratio between the amount of heat energy generated by the ground source heat pump and the amount of electrical energy or fuel it consumes. Therefore, the Seasonal Coefficient of Performance ( SCoP) is usually taken as a realistic measurement to cover throughout the year as its based on CoP at varying conditions as well as a standardized climate.

You must, however, note that there is no established Coefficient of Performance for ground source heat pumps as they can be influenced by a lot of factors as well as testing conditions. When they’re properly fitted, ground source heat pumps can achieve a quite high Coefficient of Performance.

Generally, a ground source heat pump can generate about 3 to 4 kilowatts (kW) of heat for every 1 kilowatt to electricity or fuel it consumes. It’s able to achieve a higher efficiency when compared to its counterparts by using the freely available heat energy from the ground.
