Much Wenlock

Much Wenlock is a community and also parish in Shropshire, England, situated on the A458 road in between Shrewsbury as well as Bridgnorth. Close by, to the northeast, is the Ironbridge Gorge, and the new town of Telford. The civil parish consists of the villages of Homer (1 mile north of the community), Wyke (2 miles northeast), Atterley (2 miles southeast) and also Bourton (3 miles southwest). The population of the civil parish, according to the 2001 census, was 2,605, raising to 2,877 at the 2011 Census. Much Wenlock was historically the chief community of the old borough of Wenlock. The "Much" was contributed to the name to distinguish it from the nearby Little Wenlock, as well as represents that it is the larger of the two negotiations. Remarkable historical tourist attractions in the community are Wenlock Priory as well as the Guildhall. The name Wenlock possibly comes from the Celtic name Wininicas, suggesting "white area" (in reference to the sedimentary rock of Wenlock Edge), plus the Old English loca, suggesting "enclosed location". The town was recorded in the Domesday Book as Wenloch. The Wenlock Olympian Games developed by Dr William Penny Brookes in 1850 are centred in the community. Dr Brookes is credited as a founding father of the modern-day Olympic Games, as well as one of the London 2012 Summer Olympics mascots; named Wenlock after the community.

FAQs

What’s LPG?

LPG stands for liquid petroleum gas. It’s a by-product of refined crude oil. When it’s put under pressure, LPG turns into a liquid. It’s usually stored in this form. LPG is used as fuel for things like BBQs and camping stoves, as well as central heating.

Where can I put an LPG storage tank?

Your LPG storage tank will need to go outside your property, possibly underground if you have limited space. There are planning rules that restrict where you can put your tank, especially if your property is listed or on designated land. Take a look at our planning permission article to find out more.

How do I know when I need more fuel delivering for my LPG boiler?

Your LPG storage tank should have a gauge that shows you how much fuel it has in it. Most LPG suppliers suggest that you arrange a fuel delivery when the level in your tank gets down to about 20%. Make regular checks, particularly in the winter when you will use more, so you know when levels are low.

How do I get fuel for my LPG boiler?

If you choose to install an LPG boiler, you’ll need to find an LPG supplier. They’ll deliver fuel to you every time your storage tank runs low. You can even rent a storage tank from them if you don’t want to buy one. Make sure you know who your local suppliers are and where they are based.
