Painting / Decorating in March

Interior painting can be a really reasonably priced technique to brighten up the interior of your home. Painting is sometimes undertaken as a DIY job, but skilled painters and decorators can make sure a great appearance and guarantee that your redecorating will last as long as possible.

You will often spend longer getting ready to paint than actually painting. It's highly recommended to wash and prepare all walls and ceilings before painting, as well as to mask off any regions which shouldn't be painted such as skirting, architrave, electrical sockets and light switches. Cover up home furniture as well as any carpets or flooring in the area with dust sheets to protect against any drops. When painting internally, make use of a primer coat as a base followed by several layers of paint, giving each layer time to dry in between.

Interior painters and decorators can provide you with plenty of recommendations about paint and help you pick the most suitable colour palette for your internal spaces.

March

March is a Fenland market town and civil parish in the Isle of Ely region of Cambridgeshire, England. March was the county town of the Isle of Ely, which was a separate administrative county in between 1889 and 1965. It is now the administrative centre of Fenland District Council. The same as many Fenland towns, March was originally an island surrounded by marshes. It occupied the second largest 'island' in the Great Level. As the land drained, the town developed and flourished as a trading and religious centre. It was also a minor port before emerging as, in more recent times, a market town and an administrative and railway centre. March is positioned on the banks of the old course of the navigable River Nene, and today mainly used by pleasure boats. The town's progression took place most swiftly when it ended up being an important train centre. It had a significant junction in between the Great Eastern Railway and Great Northern Railway at March railway station, allowing for ease of access to and from London, Cambridge and Ely. In particular, March Royal Mail sorting office, formerly a full post office dates from 1936, is uncommon in that it is among a few post offices that display the royal cypher from the brief reign of Edward VIII. There are many shopping options for the 19042 homeowners of March. March Town Centre is the home of a vast array of independent and commercial chain stores. A retail park opened in 2008, extending the capacity to go shopping in superstores and grocery stores. Littered across the town are also numerous eateries, bars and public houses. For all your home upgrades, make sure to make use of trusted experts in March to make certain of quality.

FAQs

can you paint over wallpaper?

Can You Paint Over A Wallpaper?

According to some painting and decoration experts, painting over a wallpaper can never produce a result that’ll be as good as painting on a blank or naked wall. However in the event whereby there’s a pressing need to quickly beautify a room, it’ll be totally understandable if you don’t want to go through the hassle of the time consuming old wallpaper removal process.

Therefore, the short and simple answer to this question is yes, it’s absolutely possible to paint over a wallpaper and get a good outcome so far you don’t rush the process. To ensure your success if you want to paint over a wallpaper, there’s also the need to use the right tools and techniques. And just like any other DIY project, proper preparation before commencement is key.

If you’re going to paint over a wallpaper, many of the tools you’ll need to acquire are the standard painting and decorating products. This means that they can be easily procured at many DIY stores. To paint over a wallpaper, you’ll need a paint roller, top quality paint brushes, joint compound ( you’ll only need this in situations whereby your wallpaper is damaged or peeling), oil based primer, tape, sandpaper, paint ( can be water, solvent or oil based paints) as well as drop clothes ( for the protection of your furnitures).

As a rule of thumb, if you can easily remove the existing wallpaper, then you probably should before you start to paint the walls. However, if removing the wallpaper seems to be a pain or can significantly damage your wall, then it’ll be smart to simply paint over it. But before you proceed, you must also note that painting over the wallpaper will make it even harder to remove later in the future.

how much do painters and decorators charge?

How Much Do Painters And Decorators Charge?

If you’re thinking about painting your home or property, then one of the first things that crosses the mind is the amount charged by painter or decorators to carry out the project. However just like any other home improvement projects and as with most tradesmen, the amount charged by a painter and decorator largely varies from job to job depending on a plethora of factors. These factors include your location, the urgency at which you need the job done and whether or not a specialist equipment would be required.

For painters and decorators, one of the biggest influencing factors that determines the price to be charged is the size of the room. For instance, if you have a large room to be painted, it’s definitely going to cost you more than a smaller room. And same applies to multiple rooms when compared to single room. In other words, to get a more accurate cost estimate from your tradesman, you’ll need to have a good idea of the size of your room or rooms. So let’s take a closer look!

✓ Painting a mid-sized room. The question here is, how do you know if your room is medium sized? The room will have a size of about 3.5m by 5m or a room that can conveniently allow up to 6 to 8 people. The price range is between £240 to £410.

✓ Wallpapering a mid-sized room. This uses the logic as painting a mid-sized room but the price can differ due to difference in materials used. The price range here is between £204 to £420.

✓ Painting a large ceiling. Painting a ceiling is very similar to painting a wall but its not as straightforward and will consume more time. The price ranges from £286 to £5476.

How much for a painter to paint a room?

How Much For A Painter To Paint A Room?

If you’re looking to have your room painted, it’s only normal to get an idea of how much it’s going to cost so you can set a budget and start planning. As you would have expected, the cost of having a room painted is dependent on a wide array of influencing factors such as the size of your room, the type of paint to be used, your location and many more. As a result, providing a single and accurate answer to this question is almost impossible.

Generally, a regular 4 metres by 3 metres room will take just a couple of days to be fully painted including both the coving and woodwork. Outside London, most painters and decorators would charge within the range of £150 to £200 per day meaning that you’ll have a total labour cost within the range of £300 to £400. What’s more? You’d also have to consider the price of the paint to be used which is usually around £50. If you add all the costs together you’ll get an average cost of about £400 to £500.

Unfortunately, paint does not last an eternity. Therefore, there’ll come a time where you’d have to consider painting your room all over again. It may seem unwise to employ the services of a professional painter and decorator especially if you’re on a budget. However, in truth, calling in a professional can go a long way to save you time, stress and money. In other words, even if you’re worried about the cost, a professional painter is still your best bet in the long run as they know exactly what to do to ensure you derive maximum benefits from your painting project.

How long should I wait after plastering to paint my walls?

You should always wait until plaster is dry before painting. The time this will take varies depending on the room and property, but in general, it will take about a week. Your plasterer will tell you how long it is best to leave it before covering or painting their work.
