Commercial / Industrial Roofing in Johnstone

Looking for commercial roofing in Johnstone? Our commercial roofing professionals in Johnstone can give you the ideal prices for having commercial roofing installed or replaced.

Commercial roofing can be necessary for several reasons, specifically if the present roof is in need of repair or it will be placed on a new build.

There are many factors which will contribute to the structure and planning of a new commercial roof and the price will all depend on the size and style you go for.

Thermoplastic roofing is especially popular. This kind of roofing is made from a durable material with high temperature tolerance. The material is a favourite for commercial rooftops because it's resistant against ultra-violet and chemical exposure. The roof covering lasts more than twenty years, with a fantastic resistance for fire, punctures and high wind loads.

You can also think about EPDM roofing. The durability and flexibility of EPDM roofing helps make it a popular material in the commercial roofing world. These types of roofing materials have the advantage of being much easier to install, maintain and repair too, adding to their popularity.

If you wish to install commercial roofing then make certain to look at quotations between vetted experts in Johnstone. By doing this you can get the best price and offer available for you in Johnstone.

Johnstone

Johnstone is a town in the council area and county of Renfrewshire in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. It lies 3 miles west of Paisley, 12 miles west of the centre of the city of Glasgow and 12 miles north east of Kilwinning. Comprising a section of the biggest conurbation in Scotland, Johnstone rests on the western boundary of the Greater Glasgow Urban Area. Johnstone was a planned community, which developed around the house of Easter Cochrane, now called Johnstone Castle. Development began in 1782 when the Laird George Houston permitted designs for a variety of residential seats forming the town centre. The building of 2 similar civic squares, Houstoun Square and Ludovic Square, and the town acquired its parish church by 1794. Coal mining began to bring wealth to Johnstone in the 19th century, with the population increasing to 5600 in 1831. Such a growth in population meant the increase in slum conditions until the advancement of an area of the town to provide a significant quantity of purpose-built residential estates, taking place in the 1930s. Much of Johnstone's history before industrialisation has actually faded away, with Johnstone Castle coming to be derelict after the last Laird died in 1931. The town's population of 15687 is well-connected to the rest of Scotland because of its distance to efficient transport links. A dual carriageway links Johnstone to the M8 motorway for transport links to central Scotland, and the town contains 2 train stations with frequent trains to Glasgow Central, Paisley and the Ayrshie Coast. Those wanting to journey more afar are 3.5 miles away from Glasgow International Airport and 40 minutes away by train from Prestwick International Airport. FAQs

What is the best commercial roofing material?
The best commercial roofing material for your building will depend on the size and type of roof you have as well as your budget. A lot of commercial buildings have flat roofs, but some have pitched roofs. These days, flat roofs are almost flat, but are usually built on a small slope so water can drain effectively. Pitched roofs are much steeper and are made using tiles or shingle. Our top choices for commercial flat roofs would be fibreglass or EDPM rubber. Both of these materials will set you back around £80-110 per square metre, making them some of the most expensive flat roof materials, but they’re strong and durable. A fibreglass roof consists of a cut glass fibre mat that is pressed on the roofing frame, then resin is poured and rolled over the roof before a topcoat is applied. An EDPM roof involves laying an EDPM rubber membrane on the roof surface then gluing it down and coating it with a contact adhesive. For pitched commercial roofs, our top material would be concrete tiles or metal. Concrete tiles will set you back anywhere between 40p and £2.90 per tile and they’re long-lasting and fire-resistant. However, they are heavy and can be susceptible to high winds. Metal roofs have been used for over 50 years and today’s modern systems are extremely strong and allow for structural or thermal movement. Aluminium roofs will cost between £40-75 per square metre, plus installation. These days, flat roofs are almost flat, but are usually built on a small slope so water can drain effectively. An EDPM roof involves laying an EDPM rubber membrane on the roof surface then gluing it down and coating it with a contact adhesive. For pitched commercial roofs, our top material would be concrete or clay tiles. Concrete tiles will set you back anywhere between 40p and £2.90 per tile and they’re long-lasting and fire-resistant. However, they are heavy and can be susceptible to high winds. Clay tiles cost as little as 50p to £2 each and can last over 50 years, but they are heavy so if your commercial roof isn’t already, it will need to be reinforced.

How much does it cost to replace a commercial flat roof?
If your commercial flat roof needs replacing, how much it costs will depend on how big the roof is and what you want it to be made from. Lots of commercial flat roofs are made from felt or asphalt, but people are also beginning to turn to materials like EDPM rubber and fibreglass. Flat roofs can last a long time, but if it’s been 20 years or more since you had it replaced or inspected, it might be time for a new one. If a roofer inspects it and finds lifting, flashing problems, sagging or lots of blisters, it’s probably time to replace your flat commercial roof. So how much does it cost to replace your commercial flat roof? The average cost is around £4,500, but it could be much less or much more. It depends on how big your roof is and what material you choose. Felt is the cheapest material you can use for your commercial flat roof, at around £40-70 per metre squared, while a lead bay roof will cost the most at £90-110 per square metre. EDPM rubber and fibreglass roofs are being used more and more because they’re so durable, and they will cost between £80 and £110 per square metre. It might be worth spending a little more upfront to get a stronger and longer-lasting commercial flat roof.

How much does it cost to replace a commercial roof?
How much it costs to replace a commercial roof depends on the type of roof you have and the size of your commercial property. Lots of commercial buildings have flat roofs, which are often made from felt, asphalt, EDPM rubber or fibreglass, while others are pitched roofs that might be made from tiles, shingle or metal. It’s likely that your commercial roof will need replacing if it’s more than 25 years old. A roofer can carry out an inspection to determine what, if any, work is needed, but there’s a high chance that you’ll need a roof replacement if it’s that old. If your flashing is looking worse for wear or you’re missing a number of tiles or shingles, it might be time to replace your commercial roof. So how much does it cost to replace a commercial roof? If your commercial roof is pitched, expect to spend between £4,500 and £7,500. It all depends on how large your property is and how easy access is, as the more scaffolding you need, the more it will cost. If your commercial property has a flat roof, the average cost would be approximately £4,500. Again, it all depends on the material, access and how large the roof is. Felt costs between £40-70 per square metre, while fibreglass costs between £80-110. Whatever type of commercial roof you have or what it’s made from, make sure you get a few quotes from reputable roofing companies so you know that the job will be done well.

How to find a commercial roofer near me?

To find a commercial roofer near you, you could ask other tenants or property owners whether they can recommend a company. If you choose a company that’s been recommended to you, make sure you do your own research into them before you decide to engage them; you can check whether they have social media pages, reviews and examples of previous work. If the company has a Quotatis profile, you’ll find genuine reviews from their customers there, including photos of work they’ve completed.

Another option is to do your own search online. These days lots of companies will have their own website and you may be able to make an enquiry through there without even having to call them. Again, you should always check out their qualifications, previous work and reviews before deciding to go with them.
