About Joint Industry Board
The Joint Industry Board (JIB) is an independent organisation that sets the standards for employment, welfare, grading and apprentice training in the electrical contracting industry. It aims to improve the industry and its status and productivity.

The JIB sets standards for terms of employment, so it helps its members to offer employment conditions that attract the best tradespeople in their area. JIB membership assures customers that they are employing staff who are highly skilled and provide excellent customer service.

There are two types of JIB membership: Electrical Contractors and Cabling and Jointing Contractors. Electrical Contractors must have been trading for at least a year in their current form and employ two or more adult tradespeople. Cabling and Jointing Contractors are separate to standard JIB membership and it puts the contractor on one year’s probation before it places them on the JIB Register of Cabling and Jointing Contractors. This ensures that all members of JIB are competent and trained to the highest standards.

Being a member of JIB means that the contractor can prove that their employment practices are legal, which helps consumers to feel assured that they are having work carried out by competent operatives. The public can search for JIB members on their website, ensuring that they find a contractor that employs motivated and competent staff.
