Highbridge
Highbridge is a tiny, former market community located on the edge of the Somerset Degrees near the mouth of the River Brue. It remains in the Region of Somerset, and is about 20 miles (32.2 kilometres) north east of Taunton, the county town of Somerset. It is no longer a market community, the market site is now a housing estate. Highbridge remains in the Area of Sedgemoor, being located approximately 7 miles (11.3 kilometres) north of Bridgwater, the district's administrative centre. Highbridge carefully neighbours Burnham-on-Sea, developing part of the consolidated parish of Burnham-on-Sea as well as Highbridge and also shares a community council with the hotel town. In the 2001 census the population was 5,986. In the 2011 census the population of the town was included in the ward of Highbridge as well as Burnham Marine, which completed 7,555.
