Fencing in Knaresborough

Interested in having fencing installed in Knaresborough? By using the Quotatis service it's possible to compare and contrast as many as four fencing companies to get the best deal available for the task you need.

Fencing is really important for all homes no matter whether it's the front or back garden. From restoration work to a full installation of new fencing, employing a reliable company is highly recommended to get the very best price available.

Fencing act as a perimeter to our properties and with an installation you'll add protection to your house and stop easy access to the back garden. Back garden fences are usually close to six feet high, which instantly makes it tougher for intruders to gain access.

Decorative fencing or wooden picket fencing tend to be most suitable for the front garden, where security isn't as important. Instead, you're more likely to select a front garden fence particularly for design and also to add something different.

For whatever style of fencing you're looking to have installed, ensure that you use our free and no obligation service to get the best deal available in Knaresborough.

Knaresborough

Knaresborough is a historic market town, spa town and civil parish in the Borough of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. Typically an area of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is situated on the River Nidd, 4 miles east from the centre of Harrogate. The town is cited in the Domesday Book of 1086 as 'Cenheard's fortress', with the name of the area undergoing numerous adjustments over the next couple of centuries. The advancement of the town commenced around 1100, when it began to offer a market and draw in traders to service the castle. The town was not awarded a royal charter to affirm its status as a market town until 1310 by Edward II. A market continues to be held every Wednesday in the market square throughout the year. There many landmarks dispersed throughout the town that attract frequent visitors. Some examples include the remains of Knaresborough Castle, the House in the Rock, the train viaduct over the River Nidd, and St. Robert's Cave. Knaresborough is also home to 'Ye Oldest Chymist Shoppe' in England, which opened in 1720, a time in which there was much mistrust about such establishments. The town is also host to a number of social and cultural tourist attractions across the year. It has held the yearly Bed Race since 1966, which is arranged by the Knaresborough Lions Club, and the Festival of Entertainment and Visual Arts (FEVA), an annual arts summer festival in the town centre, since 2001. There are 15 working clubs in the town, along with a wine bar and a number of restaurants. For all of your house upgrades, make sure to make use of credible experts in Knaresborough to make certain of quality.

    FAQs

What is the cheapest fence to install?

The cheapest fence to install is, generally, a pressure-treated pine wooden fence at around £20 per linear foot. This includes the materials and labour costs. Wire fencing is technically cheaper at around £5 per foot, but it’s not a great material to use in homes as it looks unsightly and doesn’t provide any privacy.

What do I need to do to maintain my fence?

Properly erected fences shouldn’t require a great deal of maintenance. Any rotting boards can usually be replaced without replacing the whole panel. Timber fencing should be stained every 2-3 years. General maintenance is something you can carry out yourself, however, larger works may need a qualified professional to come in.

Do I need to dispose of the old fencing myself?

Most responsible contractors will dispose of the old fencing via an approved commercial waste site. Do check that the cost of taking rubbish away is included in the quotes you receive, otherwise you might find you get stung when it comes to paying for the work.

Do I need planning permission for fences?

Not if they are under 1 metre high if next to a road or 2 metres high elsewhere. It’s always recommended to check with your neighbours and the local authority if you are unsure. Other restrictions may apply, for example if a fence might impact driver visibility on nearby roads.
